Diwali in Leicester 🏮🎆🇬🇧

Now that November has almost come to an end, I inevitably reflect over what has happened throughout the month. And one of my favourite memories is celebrating Diwali in Leicester - surrounded by lights, fireworks, laughter, joy and sugary Indian sweets, I really immersed myself in the celebrations. Diwali, or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. With its huge Hindu community, Leicester is the perfect place to join Diwali celebrations.Leicester is a friendly city, bursting with heritage and culture.
