Mahu Lake is the third largest natural deep-water lake in the country. The lake covers an area of ​​7.32 square kilometers, with a total water volume of 481 million cubic meters. The average water depth is 65.7 meters and the deepest point is 134 meters. 🌳Mahu Lake is located between the steep mountains and valleys of the Jinsha River Grand Canyon. It is surrounded by mountains and a large number of virgin forests. The forest coverage rate is 74% and the air is fresh. 🌠One of the unique landscapes is the Golden Turtle Island in the lake. The Hailong Temple on the island is the largest temple in Leibo County. It was built in the 17th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1589). 📜Historical evolution: It was a part of the Southwestern Yi area in ancient times. In the sixth year of Jianyuan in the Western Han Dynasty, Tanglang County was established in Huanglang in Leibo, and Mahu County was established in the Shu Han Dynasty. ⭐️Cultural legend: It is said that Mahu Lake was originally just a swampy barren slope. Because the blue snake moved the Dragon King of the East China Sea, the swampy barren slope became the surging Dragon Lake, and the golden turtle turned into a turtle-shaped island, namely the Golden Turtle Island. 📃National culture: Meng Huo was the leader of the Yi people in the late Han Dynasty. To commemorate him, people built the Meng Huo Temple on Jingui Island.
