Above the clouds: the fairytale encounter between Schilthorn and Murren

In the morning, we boarded the cable car to Schilthorn. The cable car consists of multiple sections. As the cable car slowly rises, the objects on the ground gradually become smaller under your feet, like an exquisite miniature model. The moment you pass through the clouds, the scene before you is breathtaking: the snow-capped mountains wake up in the morning light, and the sea of ​​clouds rolls under your feet, as if you are in heaven. Standing on the observation deck at an altitude of 2,970 meters, I felt the true feeling of "reaching the summit of the world". The 360-degree panoramic view is stunning, with more than 200 peaks in sight and the Pizgliaglia Glacier gleaming silver in the sun. The Schilthorn is famous all over the world, also because it was the filming location for the 007 film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". For lunch, we chose the revolving restaurant on the top of the mountain. In front of the huge unobstructed floor-to-ceiling windows, we enjoyed the local specialties while admiring the magnificent scenery. On the observation deck outside the restaurant, several tourists were experiencing the "Thrilling Walk", the highest suspension bridge in Europe. Walking on it, there is a bottomless canyon under your feet. The excitement is no less than any Bond movie. After lunch, we took the cable car back. As the altitude decreases, the scenery changes from the magnificence of snow-capped peaks to the tranquility of the mountain village. We chose to get off in the town of Murren and start hiking. This mountain village, where cars are not allowed, is the most charming place in the Bernese Oberland. Wooden cottages are scattered on the hillside in an orderly manner, and bright geraniums bloom on the windowsills of every house. The magnificence of the Schilthorn and the tranquility of Murren form a perfect contrast. One displays the wonders of nature, the other tells the poetry of mountain life. In this secret place above the clouds, I found the long-lost inner peace and rediscovered the beauty of life.
