A Journey to the Pyrenees in Spain ~ Huesca (Region) The monastery consists of two buildings: the new monastery, built in the 17th century, features Baroque architecture, while the old monastery, constructed in the 10th century, showcases Romanesque style. Its origins trace back to a hermitage chapel built on the site of the 10th-century monastery. The first structure constructed was the Mozarabic-style lower chapel, consecrated in 920. In 1025, Sancho el Mayor of Navarre established a new center, leading to the construction of a new Romanesque church. The Church of Saint Victoria was built in the 15th century, and the monastery was rebuilt in the 17th century after a fire, adopting Baroque architecture during the reconstruction. However, the most remarkable feature that draws visitors is the stunning Romanesque cloister.
