A journey through the Pyrenees in Spain—Huesca (region) Closely tied to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and the Romanesque architecture that spread through Somport into Aragon and reached Jaca. Originating in the 6th century during the reign of Sancho Ramírez, it is considered one of the most important monuments of Spanish Romanesque art, closely associated with the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The cathedral was built following a rectangular church layout, featuring three apses aligned with three naves. In the 15th century, a new church and choir stalls were constructed, and the roof was restored. During the height of the Renaissance, in the 16th and 17th centuries, restoration work led to the disappearance of the Romanesque appearance of the sanctuary.
