L'Aquila: The Resilient Heart of Abruzzo

#hellohalloween #laquila Nestled in the Apennine Mountains, L'Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo, Italy, blends medieval charm with modern resilience. Known for its stunning landscapes and rich history, the city was struck by a devastating earthquake in 2009, yet it continues to rebuild. Key attractions include the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, and the 16th-century Spanish Fort. L'Aquila’s vibrant cultural scene, with festivals like the Perdonanza Celestiniana, draws visitors, while its cuisine, featuring saffron and hearty pastas, delights food lovers. Surrounded by Gran Sasso National Park, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

It always surprises me how Italy can reward you with beautiful landscapes and spots not so far from where you live. Quite often you can visit a place and get back home in the span of a few hours. More than once, and in the course of different seasons, I paid a visit to the Gran Sasso National Park with some friends of mine. Both in cold and hot days the majesty of this area leaves you speechless every single time. Drive across the plain and reach the observatory almost at the top of the mountain. Then visit Rocca Calascio with its fortress for an insane view of the mountain chain. #italy #abruzzo #campoimperatore #gransasso #italytravel #italybeauties #travel #nature #outdoors #awesomepic
