How to enjoy cherry blossoms in Kyoto

The weather in Kyoto has been unstable recently, and the main cherry blossom spots have not yet bloomed, but that does not mean that there are no flowers at all. The situation is improving day by day, and we can expect to see flowers next week. 🌸Omurogawa Myoshoji Cherry Blossoms Photo date 3.22 I went to a wild cherry blossom spot that was recommended to me by veteran photographers in Kyoto. This cherry blossom, which blooms during the spring equinox, is also called "Nirvana Cherry Blossoms," and the way the pure white petals hang down into the river is adorable. Currently, it is about 60-70% in bloom, and there are still many buds, so it looks like it will be in full bloom soon. The location is along the Omurogawa River near the Randen Narutaki Station, and it is a perfect place to stop by on your way to Arashiyama or Kyoto Studio Park. 🌸Kurumazaki Shrine Kawazu Cherry Blossoms Photo date 3.22 Kawazu cherry blossoms are blooming beautifully at Benten Shrine and Atago Shrine, inside the shrine at the torii gate near the Randen tracks. The cherry blossoms at the torii gates are a beautiful combination with the railway and the station, and the cherry blossoms at Atagosha Shrine especially attract birds. Kurumazaki Shrine is also worth visiting as a famous Oisei Shrine, and you can enjoy it just by looking at the Tamagaki fence donated by idols and celebrities. 🌸Horin-ji Kawazu Sakura Photo date 3.22 It's a small cherry tree, but the combination with the temple building is mysteriously beautiful. Kyoto has a tradition of Jusan Mairi, where children who have turned 13 visit Horin-ji Temple to receive wisdom from the Bodhisattva Kokubutsu. Today, there were many children wearing hakama who had just finished their elementary school graduation ceremony. There is a legend that says not to look back when crossing the Togetsukyo Bridge. There is also a "Den Den Shrine" in the precincts, which enshrines the guardian deity of electricity and radio waves, and today, electrical contractors in suits were visiting the shrine. 🌸Seijoka-in Hachisuka Sakura Photo date 3.21 I visited when the Shishinden Hall of the Kyoto Imperial Palace is open for only 10 days a year, and also took a stroll around Seijoka-in. The Hachisuka cherry blossoms are in full bloom, but even though they look big in the photos, they are actually small trees. Next to them are the Rozanji Temple and the Nashiki Shrine, perfect for a pilgrimage related to this year's taiga drama "Hikari no Kimi". 🌸Toyokuni Shrine Hachisuka Cherry Blossoms Photo date 3.20 I enjoyed the cherry blossoms during my sword goshuin pilgrimage. There is a small cherry tree in front of the Karamon Gate of the Fushimi Castle ruins, and on the day I visited, a lot of the petals had fallen due to strong winds and rain, but the latest report says that it is in good condition and is blooming hard. 🌸Kenkun Shrine Kawazu Cherry Blossoms Photo date 3.20 There are four or five small Kawazu cherry blossoms blooming next to the stairs, and although they are almost finished blooming, you can enjoy a three-dimensional view together with the topography of Funaokayama.
