"Kenninji Sub-Temple Sairaiin" Today, we will introduce Sairaiin, a sub-temple of Kenninji. Sairaiin, located just inside the north gate, has been closed to the public for a long time, but in preparation for the 750th anniversary of the death of Rankei Doryu, the temple grounds have been renovated and it will be open to the public from March 23, 2024 as "Ran no Tera" (Orchid Temple). The first thing that catches your eye in the main hall are the two dragons painted on the ceiling, a work called "White Dragon," which is an overwhelming scale of about 13 meters wide and 6 meters tall. Inside the hall, the "Chinese Lion Screen" by Chen Man is also on display, and the dragons and lions are also impressive. In addition, a mobile coffee truck from Kyoto's popular "Blue Bottle Coffee" is parked here, so you can enjoy coffee and cafe latte inside the temple.
