Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺) is a famous temple located in Kyoto, Japan, officially named 'Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺)'. It was built in the late 15th century by the order of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the shogun of the Muromachi shogunate. Ginkaku-ji is renowned for its gardens and architecture, especially the building called 'Ginkaku'. Originally, Ginkaku was intended to be decorated in silver, but unlike Kinkaku-ji, the silver decoration was omitted. The temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens and scenery, with the landscaping of the garden being particularly exquisite. It is a must-visit spot when in Kyoto.
