[A spectacular engine shed]

We recommend getting off at Bungomori Station and visiting the engine shed. If you have children with you, you can experience a mini train just for them, with small rails laid out. Completed in 1934 as an inspection and hangar for the steam locomotives (SL) that ran on the former JNR Kyudai Line, it is the only engine shed in Kyushu that remains in its original form, and the only one in the country other than the Umekoji Engine Shed in Kyoto, which was built in 2014.
