Jinxi Ancient Town is located 23 kilometers southwest of Kunshan City. "The town is a marshland, surrounded by water on all sides." It is named Jinxi because of a stream in the town that looks like a brocade belt. For thousands of years, people have lived by the river, with streets and alleys built along the water, houses built by the water, and bridges crossing the water. It is truly a long embankment with winding alleys and flowing water... The ancient town has a long history, many cultural sites, and many ancient buildings with Ming and Qing characteristics: water lanes, riverside piers, arch bridges, arcades, corridors, streets... The historical and cultural heritage shows the charm of the water town, like a breathtaking and wonderful painting. The famous writer Shen Congwen described it as: "A girl in a dream"... Jinxi Ancient Town: Wenchang Pavilion with melodious wind chimes; the Ten-Eyed Long Bridge with a dragon lying on the waves; Chen Fei's water tomb in the water; the Ancient Brick and Tile Museum; the legend of the Thirty-Six Bridges and Seventy-Two Kilns... all of them made us linger. What a beautiful ancient town, a scenic spot worth the trip.
