Kunshan | 1-hour drive from Shanghai, perfect for a weekend getaway

It's been a long time since I visited a water town in Jiangnan. I took advantage of the sunny weather and drove to Kunshan, which is only an hour's drive from Shanghai. 🔍 Jinxi Ancient Town Tourist Center Parking Lot. Parking fee: CNY 4 for the first hour, CNY 1 for each additional hour. There are plenty of parking spaces, and there is also a "Lao Caichang Parking Lot" nearby. 🚶🏽‍♀️ What to do 1⃣️ Similar to Qibao Old Street, the ancient town is surrounded by residential areas. Many residents come out in their pajamas to buy supplies for the coming week. There are many restaurants and shops, and the area is bustling with people. 2⃣️ Jinxi Ancient Town is located on the shore of Wubao Lake. The ancient Lian Bridge is built along the lake. The reflection of the bridge at sunset is stunning, and the world in the water is as real as the world outside. There is an admission fee to cross the bridge. 3⃣️ Lianchi Temple, where you can burn incense and visit. There is a ginkgo tree in the courtyard, which must be beautiful in autumn. 4⃣️ Enter the ancient town from the entrance and take a walk around. You can see ancient buildings and bridges, as well as shops selling local specialties and handicrafts. 🛍️ What to buy 1⃣️ Local specialties: Suodi Su and various pastries. You can find a shop selling local specialties every few steps, so buy as you like. 2⃣️ Stinky tofu, radish cake, and crispy chicken. The famous crispy chicken is worth a try. 3⃣️ Farmhouse dishes. As the town is located by the lake, fish is included in the set meals at restaurants. CNY 108 for a set meal for 2. 4⃣️ Fashionable clothing stores. 5⃣️ There are many homestays, so you have plenty of options if you want to stay overnight!
