Kunming Zhenqing Temple has a long history. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty and was originally named "Zhenwu Temple". Liu Yuanran, a famous Taoist priest in the Ming Dynasty, once lived here when he was exiled to Yunnan. Zhenqing Temple is the largest existing ancient building complex in Kunming city, with the largest number of buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties preserved in the most intact condition. Major attractions include: - Ziwei Hall: It has three rooms, a civil structure, a single-eaved hip roof, and covers an area of ​​320 square meters. There is a caisson on the ceiling of the hall, supported by brackets. The top of the well is painted with the Bagua Tai Chi diagram, and the surrounding areas are decorated with patterns that are symmetrical and exquisite, retaining the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. The Purple Star Emperor is enshrined in the hall. - Laojun Hall: Located behind Ziwei Hall, with symmetrical east and west wing rooms on both sides. Due to many renovations in history, it still retains the architectural style of the Yuan Dynasty, and Laozi is enshrined in the hall. - Dulei Mansion: Built during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the main gate has a single eave with four raised corners supported by brackets. There are wooden couplets on both sides of the door: "May God always give birth to good people, and may people always do good deeds." There is a Qingfeng Pavilion inside the gate, and above the pavilion there is an exquisite caisson. Behind the pavilion is the Thunder God Temple, which is a civil structure with a single-eaved hip roof. The outer corridor of the hall has carved stone railings and a pair of stone lions. - Yanlong Temple: Built in the 7th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign (1881), it was funded by Yunnan salt merchants in the late Qing Dynasty. The salt business during the Republic of China period was also located here.
