Yunnan Kunming Ma Family Courtyard

🍁The Ma Family Courtyard was built in 1923. It is not only the residence of Ma Zhen, the first mayor of Kunming, but also the best-preserved classic Bai ethnic residential building in the "Four Courtyards and Five Skylights" style in Kunming city. 🍁The courtyard faces south and is oriented north. The layout and structure are made of brick and wood. The Ma Family Courtyard is large in scale, with an open and bright central courtyard. The large central skylight is surrounded by three two-story buildings connected by corridors, commonly known as the "Horse Trotting Corner Building." The four corner skylights are relatively narrow, with three defenses and one wall, with doors opening to the north and south. 🍁The Ma Family Courtyard has been promoting local Yunnan culture and arts. In recent years, various performances have been presented to us, including the dramas "Thunderstorm," "Heaven and Earth Collapse," and "Kunming Old House" immersive experience drama. Due to its unique historical status and cultural value, it was awarded the 2001 Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Conservation Award by UNESCO and has become a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province.
