Kunming has its own Monet's Garden

Built in 1927, Yu Garden, also known as 'Yu Zhuang', is located on the south side of Kunming's Daguan Park, also referred to as 'Daguan Park South Garden'. It was the private garden of Yu Enxi, the mayor of Kunming during the Republic of China era, with its arch bridges, lotus ponds, rockeries, and surrounding dikes creating a charm comparable to the gardens of the south of the Yangtze River, hence it is also known by the elegant name of 'Zhenhu Jingshe'. Wandering through the garden, with its winding bridges and arches, small pavilions and vine trellises, and the presence of Western-style buildings such as the Jinhou Tower, one does not feel these are out of place, but rather marvels at the beauty of the architecture that blends Chinese and Western styles. With the spring breeze on your face and the fragrance of flowers all around, a splendid rose feast is currently taking place in the rose garden of Yu Garden. The vigorous roses, some as big as the palm of your hand, are clustered together, forming a continuous sea of flowers. Some say that Daguan Park is Kunming's backyard, and the rose tide in Yu Garden is the romantic scene that must be visited every year during the transition from spring to summer. In the rose garden, which covers more than ten thousand square meters, hundreds of varieties and thousands of rose bushes are blooming in competition.
