Daguanlou Yu Garden

The Gothic building facing the south gate of Daguanlou, the 'Jinhou Building', is the most famous building in Yu Garden! It was named after the character of Yu Chengqing's grandfather, Mr. Si Enxi, who was the mayor of Kunming during the Republic of China. It has now been transformed into a quiet and elegant Tongxin Hao teahouse. Another distinctive building in Yu Garden is the stone plaque inscribed with 'Seeking Fragrance in the Depths' by the calligrapher and painter Zhao Heqing. The tranquil Yu Garden is not very crowded, forming a stark contrast with the bustling Daguan Park. Most people are unaware of its glorious history; only those who have visited and walked on its land, understanding its past, can truly appreciate its pride! This is the place where the resistance against foreign cigarettes began, where the 'Great Chongjiu' was initiated, and where the first steps were taken to strengthen and enlarge Yunnan's cigarette industry!
