Hornbill Street Mural Kuching

The street is within walking distance from the Kuching waterfront. A bright colorful mural depicting a Hornbill, the bird mascot of Kuching, and the other showing four different happy faces reflects the diversity of Kuching. There are other different designs murals nearby all worth a view, nice art works. You have to walk to find them, it is an interesting way of knowing Kuching. Must try the Chendol and Ais Kacang opposite the Hornbill Street Mural, it was so yummy, perfect for a hot sunny day. Address: Jalan Main Bazaar, Handicraft Wall 93000 Kuching Sarawak Ambiance/Facilities: 9/10 Rating: 4.5/5 #mustvisit #kuching

Kampung Budaya Sarawak

Uncover Sarawak’s Unique Heritage in Kuching! 🎭🌿 Spend a day immersed in the dazzling tapestry of Sarawak at Kampung Budaya Sarawak and the Borneo Cultures Museum—where tradition and modern storytelling collide with stunning scenery. Start your adventure early at Kampung Budaya Sarawak (9am–5pm), where you’ll stroll through lush outdoor landscapes with a misty Mt. Santubong as your backdrop. Wander from one cultural house to another (great close-up shots of the architecture! featured here is the orang ulu’s longhouse), and don’t miss the vibrant live performances of different ethnic dances—each framed by nature and dramatic cloudy skies if you visit during rainier mornings. Pro tip: stay hydrated as you explore, and consider renting a car to make transportation a breeze. Wind down at the Borneo Cultures Museum (check hours: open Mon–Fri 9am–4:45pm, weekends 9:30am–4:30pm)—a striking modern building that’s insta-worthy inside and out. Head straight for the historical exhibits where interactive displays and Western-style architecture offer plenty of spots for interesting close-ups and indoor photos (especially lovely on a sunny afternoon). Admission ends at 4pm, so plan your visit accordingly! Stay safe by packing a light rain jacket or a small umbrella as it can shift from sunny to rainy in a flash. Buildings are spaced out, so comfy shoes are a must for exploring both outdoor and indoor cultural landscapes. #Kuching #SarawakCulture #OutdoorAdventure #MuseumDay #TravelSmart

The Tree Top

Kuching’s casual eats scene is calling all foodies who love generous portions without breaking the bank! If you’re on the hunt for nice and cheap Western food in this Sarawak city, Tree Top is the kind of local gem you’ll want to add to your list pronto. The Tree Top Lot 2223, No 66, Upland Lorong 7, Kuching 93300, Malaysia Signature Dishes: The must-try highlight here is their creamy chicken chop, which comes with a crispy golden coating and heaps of thick, flavorful sauce. Other favorites include their gigantic mixed grill platter (steak + sausages + sides!) and their loaded cheesy fries for sharing. Vibe/Ambience: Think relaxed, family-friendly comfort with simple interiors, quick service, and a super easygoing crowd—perfect both for casual dinners or group gatherings. Opening Hours: 5:00 PM- 10:30 PM daily Key Strengths: Tree Top is known locally for huge portions that really fill you up! Prices are wallet-friendly, the menu is varied (burgers, pasta, and local twists on mains), and they don’t skimp on flavor or quality. It’s a magnet for students and regulars—my tip: visit during peak dinner hours and expect a bit of a queue (totally worth it for the value!). Pro tip: Hungry and on a budget? Pair your main with their homemade lemonade for a refreshing kick that won’t add much to your bill. #Kuching #WesternFood #BigPortion #BudgetBites #FoodieFind#mytraveldiary
