Sri Mahamariamman Temple - KL, Malaysia

On the northern edge of Chinatown rises the 22-meter tower of Sri Mahamariamman Temple, the oldest Hindu shrine in Kuala Lumpur. The temple was founded in 1873. Five tiers of the building are decorated with stone carvings in the South Indian style, painted sculptures of 228 Hindu gods are placed on the facades. The temple is dedicated to the great goddess Mariamma - Mother Earth, one of the incarnations of the formidable Parvati. The interiors are decorated with gilding, gems, bright paintings, dynamic sculptural groups of dancing celestials. The air is filled with tart incense. Address: Jalan Tun H. S.
