| This might be my favorite hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Whether going to Penang, Langkawi, or Semporna in Sabah, many people use Kuala Lumpur merely as a transit point, taking the opportunity to visit local landmarks and shop. Under such circumstances, the hotel needs to be conveniently located, easily accessible to train stations and airports, and situated in the city center close to shopping malls. As the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur became one of the 'Four Asian Tigers' in the 1990s, leading to a proliferation of various hotel brands. However, because of this, many luxury brand hotels in Kuala Lumpur were built quite early, and their facilities are generally outdated. More importantly, when traveling, I prefer to experience the local cultural flavor in terms of food and architecture, rather than the standardized styles found everywhere. H Although I knew when booking that this hotel is part of the same URC group as The PuLi in Shanghai and The PuXuan in Beijing, I was still amazed upon arrival. The brown exterior paired with green plants subtly features the LHW plaque. Before even entering the lobby, a large installation called the 'Birdcage' catches your eye, followed by a traditional Malaysian kebaya made of thousands of golden butterflies right in front of the lobby, making you stop and admire. The golden vintage tiles in the hall and the white orchids at the front desk create a dreamy connection with The PuLi in Shanghai. The hotel design blends modern and traditional Malaysian culture, with every corner filled with artistic vibes, making it easy to take stunning photos. The front desk is uniquely designed as a sunken counter, and when guests sit down to check in, the hotel offers a special drink. Inheriting the understated and low-key style of the Pu series, it doesn't flaunt itself at first glance, but the more you explore, the more treasures you discover: - The public areas feature many Oriental-style artworks - The room key card slot is not on the door but hidden at the junction of the door and the wall - Wooden fans, black copper tables, bamboo screens... every piece of furniture exudes a serene and peaceful Southeast Asian style While almost all luxury hotels express Western aesthetics, I cherish that this hotel so carefully and restrainedly expresses Oriental culture. As a representative of an urban oasis, hiding in the hotel is like returning to a paradise, but it is not isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city. A 10-minute walk takes you to KLCC Pavilion, and even if you shop until the mall closes at night, you can leisurely stroll back to the hotel. The next day, you can wake up naturally and head to Hua Yang for brunch.
