Kota Kinabalu (formerly known as Jesselton) is the capital of Sabah, Malaysia. It is also the capital of the West Coast Division of Sabah. Kota Kinabalu is a major fishing destination and a popular gateway for travelers visiting Sabah and Borneo. Kinabalu National Park is located about 90 kilometers from the city and there are many tourist attractions in and around the city. Kota Kinabalu is also one of the major industrial and commercial centers of East Malaysia. These two factors combine to make Kota Kinabalu one of the fastest-growing cities in Malaysia. Kota Kinabalu is one of the most important commercial centers in Malaysia. The surrounding towns transport their crops to Kota Kinabalu for distribution. The Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, a 30-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu, was established in 1994 and is now a major industrial center promoted by the government.
