Mount Mitsumine

#hellohalloween Mount Mitsumine sits in the northern part of Chichibu‑Tama‑Kai National Park, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The mountain’s name “Mitsumine” literally means “three peaks” — originally referring to the summits of Mt. Myōhō (1,332 m), Mt. Shiraiwa (1,921 m) and Mt. Kumotori (2,017 m) which form a distinctive outline visible from the shrine area. The shrine (Mitsumine Shrine) is located at about 1,100 m elevation on the mountain, though the wider area extends higher.

Pefkohori Pier

#hellohalloween #pefkohori ### Spooky Pines: Halloween in Pefkohori In the pine-shadowed embrace of Pefkohori, where the Aegean whispers secrets to the shore, Halloween unfurls like a midnight myth. October 31, 2025: the golden sands of Pefkohori Beach, usually kissed by sunbathers, now cradle flickering jack-o'-lanterns carved from local olives. Costumed revelers—ghosts in chitons, vampires with ouzo fangs—wander the promenade, their laughter mingling with the rustle of ancient forests. The old village, perched on hills like a forgotten oracle, hosts the Witch's Market at dusk. Stalls brim with hexed honey from Sithonia hives, potions brewed from wild herbs, and talismans of olive wood against evil eyes. A bonfire crackles in the central square, where locals share tales of sea nymphs and cursed shipwrecks, flames dancing like will-o'-the-wisps. Children, faces painted as satyrs, chase fireflies turned trick-or-treaters, their sacks bulging with loukoumi "bones" and dried figs disguised as eyeballs. As night deepens, the beach bars transform. Elephant Beach Bar, quirky under neon pumpkins, pumps remixed bouzouki beats laced with eerie synths. Revelers sip "Blood Moon" cocktails—cherry-infused tsipouro glowing red—while fire dancers spin illusions of Hades' gates. Glarokavos Lagoon nearby pulses with a secret rave: underwater lanterns bob like lost souls, and snorkelers in fins and fins chase bioluminescent "spirits" in the shallows. But beware the pine groves' heart—a midnight hike to the "Whispering Pines," where echoes mimic lost lovers' calls. Legend says, on All Hallows' Eve, the trees reveal futures in their sighs. One wanderer swears she glimpsed a spectral goat-god, offering riddles for safe passage home. By dawn, Pefkohori sheds its shroud. The sea laps clean the sands, pines stand sentinel once more. Yet in every rustle, a thrill lingers: here, Halloween isn't imported—it's woven into the land's eternal, enchanting night.
