The Kinabatangan River is the longest river in Sabah, approximately 560 km long. The river and its surrounding tropical rainforest are one of the richest ecosystems on Earth.

It takes about 2 hours to drive from Sandakan to Kinabatangan. Now is the best season, with abundant fruit trees and mild air. Most importantly, this is the habitat of many birds and primates. Cruising in the river is the best way to explore the diverse ecosystem and wildlife here. We took a boat trip in the early morning and at dusk, and each time we saw different species. Crocodiles, rhinoceros hornbills, blue-eared kingfishers, leaf monkeys, otters, and many elephant footprints were found.
