Thale Ban National Park

Thale Ban National Park is located in Wang Prachan Subdistrict, Khuan Don District, Satun Province. It is the first terrestrial national park in the southern border region, covering an area of approximately 196 square kilometers or about 122,500 rai. The park was officially established on October 27, 1980. The terrain is predominantly characterized by high, complex mountains and lush tropical rainforests, resulting in high biodiversity in terms of both flora and fauna. Highlights of the Park Thale Ban: A large freshwater lake nestled in the mountains, formed by ground subsidence. The area is serene and shaded, surrounded by tropical rainforests. It serves as a habitat for various birds and freshwater animals, making it ideal for relaxation, sightseeing, and nature studies. Nature Trails: The park offers hiking trails for studying rare plants and wildlife such as tapirs, mouse-deer, porcupines, jungle fowl, and various bird species. There is also a wooden walkway around Thale Ban Lake specifically designed for tourists. Waterfalls and Natural Caves: The park features attractions like Ton Plio Waterfall, Ton Din Cave, and Yaroey Waterfall, which are popular spots for eco-tourism. Facilities The park provides accommodations for visitors, camping areas, restrooms, and basic services. There are restaurants and welfare shops open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitor Information Open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Entrance fees for Thai nationals: Adults 40 THB / Children 20 THB. Entrance fees for foreigners: Adults 200 THB / Children 100 THB. Getting There From Satun city, take Highway 406 towards Khuan Don District. Then turn onto the Thai-Malaysian border road (Highway 4184). The distance from the city to the park headquarters is approximately 39 kilometers. Highly recommended!
