Kerumutan is located in Riau Province. From an administrative point of view, this forest area stretches across two districts, namely Pelalawan and Indragiri Hulu. So vast, the area is divided into three where the division of the area is seen from the condition of the land. The first area is the Core Area, which covers more than 93 thousand hectares. The second area, the Peat Protected Area, covers an area of ​​more than 52 thousand hectares. Finally, the Intervention Area, which is intended as a place to save peat swamp ecosystems, covers an area of ​​more than 1.1 million hectares. The attraction of Kerumutan is not only the view of its peat forest. You can also find a variety of rare fauna, such as the Sumatran tiger. There are also clouded tigers, long tailed monkeys, white egrets, gibbons, hornbills, and even sinyulong crocodiles. This forest has even become a shelter for birds when migrating and has made it designated as an IBA (important bird area) and EBA (endangered bird area) area.
