Travel tips for Kep City

1. The English name of Bai Ma City is Kep, and when I first arrived, there were white cows on the roadside. I was curious why it was called Bai Ma (white horse) instead of Bai Niu (white cow). Maybe it was because Bai Ma sounds better. 2. This city is much safer than I imagined, and the road conditions are good. I entered Bai Ma from the Ha Tien border in Vietnam, and it took me about 2 hours to get there by minibus for $16.5. The asphalt road along the sea runs through Bai Ma City, and the flame trees on both sides of the road are very beautiful. There are few cars on the road, so it is very enjoyable to ride a motorcycle. 3. There are not many attractions in Bai Ma City. The most famous one is the Crab Market, which is a local seafood market open from morning to around 3 pm. Most Cambodians come here to eat the blue crabs, which are large and meaty. The most important thing is that they are fresh and cheap, $10 per kilogram. You can also pay for on-site processing and stir-fry with Kampot pepper, which is very delicious. I bought $5.5 crabs and $5.5 shrimp, and paid $2.5 for processing. The portion was so large that I had two meals. 4. If you have time in the afternoon, you can rent a motorcycle to go to the pepper plantation, called La Plantation, which is a 40-minute drive away. The road is a bit bumpy. You can join a free tour before 4 pm, which introduces the types of pepper, visits the pepper plantation, and offers free tasting of various types of pepper. Before dusk, you can drive to the top of the mountain in Bai Ma National Park to overlook the panoramic view of Bai Ma and watch the sunset. After dark, you can go to the seaside market, where there are many snack stalls. It is very pleasant to enjoy the sea breeze. 5. Some useful information: It takes 30 minutes to get to Kampot from Bai Ma by minibus for $5.5. There are no currency exchange shops in Bai Ma, so it is recommended to withdraw money from ACLEDA ATM, with a handling fee of $5.5. You can only buy a SIM card at Kep Market, not Crab Market! There is only one Vivo store in Kep Market, where you can buy a SIM card for $3. You need to pay an extra $1.5 to recharge the data, 15 GB for 7 days. 6. Although the environment of the popular Wave Coffee in Bai Ma is good, the quality of the coffee is not good, and the price is high. There are no good coffee shops in Bai Ma City.
