Green spaces are a bit of a commodity in Jakarta and the farm’s lovely sunflower gardens make for a nice reprieve after seeing one too many of our city’s towering skyscrapers. As it’s located right by the ocean, the area has a nice breeze even during the day, making even alfresco dining viable under Indonesia’s blazing, hot sun. This new location proudly wears its concept on its sleeve, as it’s located in the middle of an urban farm where we can gorge on their versions of classic Southeast Asian cuisine while admiring the lovely sunflowers outside. While you’re waiting for your food to be served, spend time exploring the farm’s lovely sunflower garden. If you’re keen on creating your own slice of greenery at home, the Kinetic Farm eco-living store next door is the perfect spot to practice your green thumb. Scientia Square Park (SQP) is a 7,500 square meter privately managed open space with many facilities like skatepark, in line skate, wall climbing, street work out, baby-strolling, Koi pond & Koi farm, bicycle, kids’ playground, paddy field and amphitheater. In this park, i can also join the occasional activities like taichi and yoga classes. I found Scientia Square Park at BSD City, Indonesia is pretty fun. I like how they layout the park and toddler-friendly to play and learn! It how the city kids learn back to nature and they observed some animals. I met alpaca! Gosh, so freaking cute. Fee to get in is around IDR 70k at the weekend and IDR 30k at the weekdays. We allowed to bring own foods and picnic till night! If you brave enough to give the owl some rats for dinner, the worker allowed you to catch the owl in your hand. Bogor Botanical Gardens

Bogor botanical garden is the first botanical garden in Indonesia. It lies in the heart of Bogor. There are 2 orchid houses near the café. The newer one is full with commercial orchids such as phalaenopsis, dendrobium, and cattleya. The older one contains the ingenious orchids from rainforests all over Indonesia. Most of these orchids are smaller and they don’t bloom as often as the commercial ones, but they smell very nice. Another unique spot to see is the lotus ponds. They are hardly to miss because there are a few ponds scattered in this garden. Although it is named Taman Anggrek Indonesia Permai (TAIP), it is not a park or garden per se (taman is bahasa Indonesia for garden). TAIP is the place where you can buy many kinds of orchids! If you like orchids, you will not get bored in Taman Anggrek Indonesia Permai. You will find various types of orchids here, from the popular ones such as phaleonopsis and dendrobium, to the classic such as catleya, and the trending one from Brazil. The vendors relayed that the present trend is people prefer orchids fresh from the forest, which looks are very rare and have sweet-scent. Naturally, they are expensive. Sadly, the street sign to TAIP is almost nonexistent. Taman Bunga Nusantara

This flower garden is one of the best we visited. One thing that was beyond our imagination was that it is concealed deep in Puncak area down in the valley with very poor access roads! But we got there, the garden was awesome with varieties of flowers from domestic and overseas. The blooms and blossoms of the varieties created lovely scenery where can pick any spot for selfie. However, the garden is located in the valley of the heights/Puncak making it a bit warmer especially during sunshine. The garden is actually accessible on foot around the paths among the flowers. This area is very huge and has many things to see. There are many flowers and it seemed like heaven on earth. Cattleya City Park

The park is clean and beautiful. With the size of 3 hectares, it is a suitable to eradicate stresses and enjoy the fresh air. Shady trees and green grasses become the main features of the park, actually. No wonder, the nuance is quite rejuvenating. It is suitable to find peace and get closer to nature, for sure. What’s more? Visitors can find a man-made lake there. Despite the small size, it becomes tourists’ favorite spot for fishing. With all those features, Cattleya Park should be everyone’s choice when it comes to choosing a place to relax in Palmerah. Decorated by many types of flowers and plants, the park appears charming and comforting.
