To revitalize the community, the Keelung City Government initiated the "Color Project," painting the exteriors of 16 old buildings along the port in vibrant colors, breaking the traditional dull and messy image of fishing ports. The row of retro houses, repainted with an Italian fishing village concept, features soft macaron hues reflected on the water, creating a visually layered effect. It gives visitors the illusion of being in Burano, Venice, Italy.
