Qingshuiyan

Qingshuiyan is located in Tantuo Village, Linyuan District, on the Fengshan Hills. The entire area is covered with unique coral reef rock formations. The name Qingshuiyan, which means 'Clear Water Rock,' comes from the natural springs that frequently emerge from the ground. Since the Japanese colonial period, it has been one of the eight scenic spots of Kaohsiung. The most famous attractions are Qingshui Temple and the former Japanese military tunnel, Longpan Cave. Behind Qingshui Temple, there are many natural caves and peculiar rocks. The spring water that flows from these rocks was once called Lingquan Pool. It is said that Lin Banxian, a legendary figure from Linyuan Township, split Qingshuiyan with his sword to facilitate irrigation for farmers. However, the truth is that Qingshuiyan's coral reef geology, which is porous and water-retentive, causes the spring water to flow out.
