A Journey to Kangding: A Gentle Encounter of Tibetan and Han Cultures

Kangding, this small town where Tibetan and Han cultures blend, has always captivated my heart. Upon my first arrival, I was immediately drawn to its unique charm. On the first day, I arrived in Kangding in the evening, where the sunset painted the sky in brilliant shades of orange and red. After quickly dropping off my luggage, I headed straight to the Kangding Love Song Square. There, Tibetan locals dressed in festive attire danced in a circle, performing the traditional Guozhuang dance. The lively atmosphere was infectious, and soon I found myself joining in. Though my steps were clumsy, my smile was radiant. As night fell, the square lit up with lights, and the distant mountains shimmered faintly under the glow, like a flowing painting. The next day, I visited the Kangding Love Song Scenic Area. Following the winding mountain road, the scenery along the way was poetic and picturesque. Mountain streams gurgled with crystal-clear water, while wildflowers swayed in the breeze, releasing a delicate fragrance. I strolled leisurely, pausing often to admire the beauty and capture the moments with my camera. At the mountain's summit, a vast alpine meadow unfolded before my eyes, dotted with wildflowers and framed by snow-capped peaks glistening in the sunlight. Sitting on the grass, I closed my eyes and felt the gentle breeze caress my cheeks, as if the whole world had quieted down. On the third day, I ventured to Zheduo Mountain, a crucial transport hub in Kangding and a gateway for many travelers heading to western Sichuan. The mountain road was steep and winding, but the views along the way were breathtaking. At the summit, the wind was strong, and the temperature dropped significantly. Bundled up in my coat, I stood on the viewing platform, gazing at the distant snow-capped peaks and sea of clouds, filled with awe. On the descent, I passed by a Tibetan village where houses were scattered harmoniously, with wisps of smoke rising from their roofs. I stopped at a Tibetan family's courtyard and savored authentic Tibetan cuisine, the unique flavors lingering in my memory. Though my trip to Kangding was brief, the stunning landscapes, delicious food, and warm-hearted Tibetan people left a deep impression on me. Kangding, this small town where Tibetan and Han cultures intertwine, offered me a rare experience of tenderness and beauty.
