Kenrokuen Garden

Kenrokuen Garden, along with Kairakuen in Mito and Korakuen in Okayama, is known as one of Japan's three most famous gardens. It was established in the 17th century during the Edo period as a strolling garden with ponds. Kenrokuen covers an area of 11.4 hectares, and its name means 'Garden of Six Attributes,' representing spaciousness, tranquility, artificiality, antiquity, water features, and scenic beauty. The garden includes traditional Japanese garden elements such as artificial hills, ponds, stone bridges, stone lanterns, waterfalls, streams, and teahouses.
