Tourists must travel by bus or taxi from nearby cities. 1. From Tokyo → Kamikochi • By train: • Take the Shinkansen from Tokyo → Matsumoto Station (~2.5 hrs) • Transfer to the Matsumoto Dentetsu Line to Shin-Shimashima Station (~30 min) • Then take the Alpico Bus to Kamikochi (~1 hr) • By direct bus: • There is an Alpico Highway Bus from Shinjuku directly to Kamikochi (~5-6 hrs) 2. From Osaka / Kyoto → Kamikochi • By train: • Take the Shinkansen to Nagoya → Transfer to the train to Matsumoto • Then travel the same way as from Tokyo • By direct bus: • There are direct buses from Osaka and Kyoto to Kamikochi (~6-7 hrs) 3.
