Hase-dera Temple Hase-dera Temple, officially known as Kaikozan Jisho-in Hase-dera Temple, is a Jodo sect temple located in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, with a history of over 1,000 years. Hase-dera Temple was built in the 8th year of the Tenpyo era (736) during the Nara period by Tokudo Shonin under the imperial order of Emperor Shomu. The main deity enshrined in the temple is the Eleven-Faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue, which is carved from a giant camphor tree, with a long history and exquisite craftsmanship. Hase-dera Temple is not only famous for its historical and cultural background but also attracts many tourists for its beautiful natural scenery and rich cultural activities.
