Museum of the Goldfields

Great attraction... and it's FREE! There is lots to see here, so give yourself plenty of time. You can get a lift to the top of the shift and see views of Kalgoorlie and go into the vault where there are many gold nuggets to be seen. each has a write up of its history and there is lots of history about how the mines began and the people involved in their discovery. There is so much to see it will take you a few hours to get the best out of your visit. There are aboriginal artifacts and short videos to watch.I liked to Bush Mechanic videos and the actual cars from the series are displayed on the ground floor.the outside area is pleasant to sit in and although there is no cafe on site... the encourage you to sit and eat your own packed lunch outside. There are a few buildings to explore to discover how the miners lived...and at tge side of the museum at the front. there is a set up of a bushman camp. Overall this is a fantastic place to visit and learn about the mining community...there is a gift shop and best of all is that it is Free admission.
