Kaiyuan Phoenix Ecological Park

Kaiyuan Phoenix Ecological Park became a national AAAA-level tourist attraction in 2020 and is only a few kilometers away from the city center of Kaiyuan. On a Saturday afternoon, we drove to the north gate of the ecological park. The parking lot was full of cars, and some were parked along the roadside. A parent-child fitness activity was taking place, with ribbons outlining part of the road leading up the mountain, limiting the activity area and attracting many families to participate. It was a scene of joy. This place is not only suitable for tourism and sightseeing, leisure and fitness, but also a great venue for public welfare activities. The mountain in the ecological park is called Phoenix Mountain. There is a well-maintained road leading up the mountain (for safety reasons, cars are prohibited from driving up). The road is shaded by green trees, the slopes are covered with lush grass, and there are forests and lakes on the mountain. At the top of the mountain stands a 14-story bell tower—Phoenix Tower, which reaches into the clouds, set off by green lawns and surrounded by woods. The steps in front of the tower are adorned with a floral phoenix pattern. Phoenix Tower is a landmark building in Kaiyuan City, and in 2021, it opened the 'Kaiyuan Memory Living Room' exhibition, introducing the history and present of Kaiyuan. On the south side of Phoenix Mountain is Phoenix Lake, with a wide water surface and fitness trails around it. Between Phoenix Mountain and Phoenix Lake, a square was built, named 1909 Square to commemorate the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway. There are free parking lots on the north side of the ecological park, the west side of Phoenix Lake, and 1909 Square, making it convenient to drive there. The narrow-gauge sightseeing train running between Kaiyuan and Dada has a stop at 1909 Square, allowing visitors to reach Phoenix Ecological Park by experiencing the narrow-gauge train.
