Kaiping Shuikou Market

Kaiping Shuikou Market Shuikou Market, also known as Shuikou Bu, is located in the east of Kaiping, 14 kilometers away from Sanbu Town. The name 'Shuikou' is commonly known as 'Single Shuikou', which originated from the Song and Yuan dynasties, because it is located at the outlet of Xin Qiao Shui (Shuikou River). During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1560-1570 AD), it was merged and relocated from Taiping Market and Luowen Market to Shaping Market, and later known as Shuikou Bu. The initial setting of the market was 'the market during the day, trade and retreat', mostly temporary stalls, with only a few scattered shops, and the market period was every five and ten days. Later, streets were opened up, hundreds of shops were added, and the building structure developed from mud walls to brick walls.
