#5月好去地方2025 The Kagai Ruins are part of the "Hita Ruins Group", a nationally designated historic site located in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. It is only about a 10-minute walk from Joetsu Myoko Station, making it very convenient to reach. This was once a large settlement site from the Yayoi period to the Kofun period in ancient Japan. Because a large number of residential remains, shell mounds, tombs and artifacts were discovered, it was considered an important local stronghold at the time. The ruins area is now very tidy, with a wide rural landscape and trails. There are also stone tablets and explanation signs for the "Kagai Ruins" on site. It is a quiet spot where you can take a walk and learn about local history. Standing in the fields and overlooking Myoko Mountain, it is also interesting to feel the ancient people's site selection and living space.
