As there were only five shops on the street, "Wudian City" gradually became another name for Qingyang. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, "Wudian City" had developed into a prosperous block. The red brick ancient buildings in Wudian City span the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods and are an important cultural heritage of Jinjiang City.
