Jingshe Ancient Trail

The first stop in Jingde can start from crossing the mysterious ancient trail, known as the Jingshe Ancient Trail. Since the Sui Dynasty, this trail has played an important role, with people traveling from south to north, and it was also an important conduit for Huizhou Prefecture to reach Ningguo Prefecture, carrying the important task of transporting official documents. Compared to its former glory, the ancient trail now seems much more desolate, and even during holidays, it remains quiet and peaceful. Fortunately, along the way, there are still some relics that record the years of the ancient trail. After passing through the mountain cave, ancient relics such as the Coming Buddha Pillar, Lean-on-the-Wall Cave, Tianzhu An ruins, Wangzi Cave, and Tianxing Cave make the Jingshe Ancient Trail the best preserved and longest Huizhou ancient trail. The second stop of the Jingde trip can be to Jiang Village, located 15 kilometers southwest of the county town. In my opinion, although it is not as famous as Xidi and Hongcun in the same province, it also stands out with its rich Huizhou culture and Hui-style architecture. From the establishment of the village at the end of the Sui Dynasty to the present, Jiang Village has gone through more than 1,300 years. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the population here even reached more than 80,000 people, and for a time it was called 'Little Hangzhou'. Today, although Jiang Village has long since lost its former prosperity, and most of the young people have gone out to work, the elderly who remain in the village, like the ancient buildings, guard this ancient village.
