Chongqing's must-see destination - Hongyadong

Among the big cities in mainland China, Chongqing is undoubtedly the one I miss the most. I originally thought that this place was only "hot" and "spicy", but after visiting it in person, I found that Chongqing is incredibly interesting in terms of people, things, objects and scenery. What surprised me the most was the booming popularity of internet celebrities. Chongqing is full of internet celebrity attractions. According to local people, there are so many internet celebrities coming from all over the country to shoot Douyin videos in some areas that the government, in order to allow the internet celebrities to shoot as many Douyin videos as they want, simply closes the roads during specific periods, causing them to be unable to return home for a period of time during the holidays. Do you want to witness how Internet celebrities perform, or want to become one of them, or do you want to experience what it feels like to be "shoulder to shoulder" as the idiom goes? It's definitely a good choice to come to Hongyadong. If you want to know the story of Hongyadong, you have to start with the story of the "city gate". The history of building city gates in Chongqing can be traced back to the Warring States Period more than 2,000 years ago. Zhang Yi of the Qin State built Ba County after conquering the Ba State. The Shu Han built a city gate for the second time during the Three Kingdoms period. The Southern Song Dynasty built a city gate for the third time to fight against the Yuan Dynasty. The first two times were earthen cities, and it was not until the third time that Chongqing had a stone city wall. Hongya Cave is a natural cliff cave. Its waterfall landscape was once one of the twelve scenic spots in Bayu, named "Hongya Dicui". A city gate, Hongya Gate, was built at the location of Hongya Cave. In the 1940s, the prosperous water trade attracted a large number of residents to settle here, and many stilt houses were built on the hillside.[7] After the founding of the People's Republic of China, this place fell into decline, and many old houses became dilapidated before the folk style area was built. In August 1999, after discussion, the Yuzhong District Government of Chongqing and relevant departments decided to position the Hongyadong area as the "Chongqing Hongyadong Traditional Folk Style Area" and to build a commercial district in the form of traditional residential buildings on stilts. The Hongyadong Folk Customs Area was designated as one of Chongqing's eight "people-oriented projects" in 2005. It was invested and built by Chongqing Little Swan Group and officially opened on September 29, 2006. The folk customs area did not perform well in its initial stage of construction, with losses of millions of yuan almost every month in the early days of its opening. Since 2016, thanks to short video platforms such as Tik Tok, night scene videos of the Hongyadong Folk Customs Area have become popular on the Chinese mainland Internet, with netizens often describing the night scene as being similar to the Tangcheng in the famous Japanese animated film "Spirited Away". #Chongqing #Good place to check in #Hongyadong
