The Dashankeng Well near the West Gate is best visited at night when it glows like a blue sapphire under the lights. Nearby, old tofu shops use the well water for their brine, so you can taste the local tofu after visiting the well. Xiaojiekeng Well, also near the West Gate, has two goldfish swimming in it—be careful not to scoop them up when drawing water. Shier Yanjing (Twelve-eye Well) is the largest ancient well complex and is now covered with iron nets. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and respect the ancient buildings by not littering or touching artifacts.
