Jianshui Ancient Town

Jianshui City was originally a rammed earth city built during the Nanzhao period, and was expanded into a brick city in the 20th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1387). When Li Dingguo captured Lin'an City, the towers of the south, north, and west were destroyed by war. They were repaired again in the fourth year of Kangxi, but later suffered further damage. Only the Dongmen Chaoyang Tower, despite having gone through numerous wars and earthquakes, still stands tall after nearly six hundred years. Jianshui County began to build temple schools during the Yuan Dynasty. During the Hongwu years of the Ming Dynasty, Lin'an Prefecture School was built, and during the Wanli period, Jianshui Zhou Confucian school was also established.
