Ta Qing Ancient Temple

Ta Qing Temple is located at the foot of Jiulong Mountain, 20 kilometers east of Jiangyin City, within the territory of Huashi Town. It is south of Huaxi Village and north of Xiangyang Resort. Ta Qing Temple was founded during the Chiwu period of the Three Kingdoms, which dates back over 1700 years. It is said that during the Three Kingdoms period, Wu Guotai, the mother of Sun Quan, built seven temples and eight pagodas in the south of the Yangtze River, and Ta Qing Temple was one of them. During the Song Dynasty, it was honored with the imperial title of Jingde Institute, and in the Yuan Dynasty, during the Zhi Zheng period, the founding monk renamed it to Ta Qing Temple. Ta Qing Temple was approved for restoration by the Jiangyin City Government in February 1993. A total of 55 halls and 41 camphor wood Buddha statues were constructed, and the temple was opened on June 19, 1993. The name 'Ta Qing Temple' was inscribed by the Vice President of the National Buddhist Association, President of the Shanghai Buddhist Association, and the head of Yuanming Lecture Hall, Master Ming Yang. He also inscribed a couplet for the temple gate: 'Ta Yue rises a thousand zhang high, without reaching the land of Bodhi in one's lifetime; the ancient path of purity and tranquility, thousands of volumes all return to the heaven of Prajna.'
