Sanqingkou Porcelain Workshop

Sanqingkou Ancient Porcelain Village is known as "Wanchang" because it has been specializing in the firing of blue and white porcelain throughout the dynasties. The village is built along the valley, with wisps of smoke rising and intertwining with the distant mountains. As one of the birthplaces of early Chinese blue and white porcelain, Sanqingkou Ancient Porcelain Village, under the glory of the kiln fire, has the oldest existing kiln site in China. The celadon porcelain produced in the former dragon kiln was continuously transported to various places via the Xianxia Ancient Road. The only traditional porcelain workshop left over from the Qing Dynasty in western Zhejiang still retains the ancient traditional production methods and technologies. Sanqingkou Porcelain Workshop covers an area of 41,340 square meters. There is a stepped dragon kiln, about 35m long, 11 pestle houses, more than 40 blank pulling rooms, 7 sets of washing pools, blank pulling wheels, and several sets of tools. The ancient porcelain village also retains nearly 100 buildings such as the She Temple and the Huang Ancestral Hall, as well as residences from the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, and the 1960s. The entire village maintains the original layout and historical features of the kiln workshop. The history of Sanqingkou Porcelain Workshop can be traced back to the Qianlong period. Among them, the dragon kiln is the most important building of Sanqingkou Porcelain Workshop. In 1997, the kiln stopped burning due to the lack of market competitiveness of its products at the time. By 2025, the dragon kiln had been out of service for 28 years.
