Liang Qichao's Former Residence is located to the north of the Liang Qichao Memorial Hall. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, the residence is a brick-and-wood structure with a tile roof. It is backed by Fengshan Mountain, where the Ming Dynasty Lingyun Pagoda is located. Here, you can find Liang Qichao's childhood study, former residence, and library. Liang Qichao was a polymath, with extensive writings in politics, economics, philosophy, literature, history, law, religion, journalism, education, and library science. He made significant contributions to the progress and development of modern Chinese society. To the east of Liang Qichao's Former Residence is Ren Hall. Built during the Republic of China period, it was once a place called Renxuan School, an important educational facility in Chakeng Village. Here, you can see the family traditions and heritage of the Liang family. There are letters from Liang Qichao to his sons and daughters, such as Liang Sida, Liang Siyong, Liang Sichong, and Liang Sicheng, in which he educates them. For example, he said, "To do research, you must alternate between intense and slow study." He also said, "To be responsible and diligent is to be a first-class person." In a letter to Liang Sishun, he said, "A healthy outlook on life is the source of lifelong happiness." In a letter to Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, he said, "Parents should be interesting, so their children can be interesting." Liang Qichao pioneered a new model of family education in China in the 1920s. He consciously helped his children develop a sense of national identity and self-respect, as well as new moral concepts of freedom, self-control, rights, and obligations. He wanted them to be intelligent and brave, to care about national affairs, and to be politically capable. He left his children touching family letters, which reflect his successful educational philosophy.
