Jerash Ancient City

#2024Travel Review Jerash, known as the Pompeii of the East, is the best preserved Roman ruins in the Middle East. It is a 40-minute drive from Amman, the capital of Jordan. It was occupied by Rome in 65 BC and became one of the top ten Roman cities. It was discovered by German explorers in 1806 and was subsequently excavated by archaeologists, preserving the ancient city’s appearance intact. There are few people here and it takes about half a day to visit.
