Jeonju Hyanggyo, Confucian school

In Jeonju Hanok Village there lies a village school (Hyanggyo, 향교) where scholars living nearby receives their education here. This school was built in the 15th century, destroyed during Japanese invasion, then rebuilt again. Similar to other Confucian academy, the mai building is named Daesungjeon, meaning hall of great success, houses the tablets of Confucius and his notable disciples. At the back of the of the hall is Myeongryuntang, means to understand the proper way, is the hall where teaching occurs. There is a gingko tree planted more than 400 years ago, which is a symbol of purity and strong, as gingko trees never invite any pests. #celebratewithtrip #tripblazers
