Olle Trail 16 Course - Susanbong

Susanbong in Aewol is part of Jeju Olle Trail 16 Course (Gonaepo Port → Namdu Yeondae → Gueom Fishing Village Experience Center → Susanbong Peak → Yewon-dong Welfare Center → Hangpaduri Anti-Mongolian Historical Site Cosmos Pavilion, Gwangryeong 1-ri Office, total 15.8km). There is a parking lot near the reservoir at the entrance where you can park your car. At the entrance of Susanbong, one of the must-visit places in Aewol, Jeju, you can see a majestic black pine tree that is over 500 years old and designated as Natural Monument No. 441, standing 11.5 meters tall. Seeing this tree in person is truly awe-inspiring. Next to the black pine tree, there is a space where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the artificial reservoir. Here, you will also find a stone inscribed with the poem "Riverbank" by poet Gam Tae-jun, as well as a signboard with the words "Guardian Pine of the Lake" and "Adding Charm to the Scenery." At the entrance leading to the summit of Susanbong, there are detailed guides to attractions along the walking trail, such as Daewonjeongsa Temple, a badminton court, exercise equipment, a reservoir pond, and a memorial tower. Note that while there used to be a public restroom at the summit 3–4 years ago, it was removed when an aviation radar was installed. The only restroom available is next to the Drukumda Jeju Aewol branch café. Additionally, this location is a pet-friendly destination in Jeju, making it a great spot for walking your dog along the trail. On the day of the visit, many people were seen enjoying walks with their dogs.
