[Iwaki, Fukushima: Onahama Suwa Shrine]

#FuriTabiWinter Onahama Suwa Shrine, famous for its blue torii gates, is located in Onahama, a seaside town in Iwaki City. It is about 2km from the nearby "Aquamarine Fukushima" and about 5 minutes by car. In 1201, a branch of the Suwa Taisha Shrine in Nagano Prefecture was enshrined, and the shrine was originally built in a different location. As the industrial structure of Onahama shifted from agriculture to fishing, the shrine was moved to its current location in 1385. Since then, it has been deeply revered by fishery, maritime, and port workers, as well as local people, as the "guardian deity of the sea."
