🌊 East Izu is usually the first stop for visitors to Izu, and it already offers a wealth of attractions. Key spots include Mount Omuro, the Cactus Animal Park 🌵, and Jogasaki Coast. If time is limited, you can plan a one-day trip to East Izu. 🗺️ Itinerary: ✅ Izu-Kōgen Station: Take the train to 【Izu-Kōgen Station】, purchase a 【one-day bus pass】 and tickets for the Cactus Animal Park at the station. ✅ Bus Stop: Use Google Maps to navigate to Mount Omuro. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes, and the cable car ticket booth is right at the drop-off point. ✅ Mount Omuro: A striking matcha-colored mountain! The vibrant green lasts from May to around November. Take the cable car up, walk around the summit, and try the local rice dumplings. The scenery is stunning—my personal top pick for Tokyo-area trips. ✅ Cactus Animal Park: After visiting Mount Omuro, the park is just across the street. Tickets cost 2,500 yen, and the park is quite large. A highlight is the chance to feed and touch capybaras, which soak in hot springs during winter. This is a combined zoo and botanical garden, perfect for families with kids. There are many activities for feeding small animals, and the park features a variety of American flora and fauna. ✅ Bus Stop: Use Google Maps to find Jogasaki Coast. Get off at "Izukaiyo Park Bus Stop." Nearby, you'll see Izu Ocean Park—this is the right location. After getting off, head to the parking lot, where you'll find signs pointing to Jogasaki Coast. ✅ Jogasaki Coast Entrance: Jogasaki Coast offers a coastal hiking trail. The entrance sign lists two routes: the coastal trail and the forest trail. The difference between the two is minimal, as they merge at viewpoints along the coast. ✅ Kadowaki Suspension Bridge: The hike takes about 30-60 minutes, but the stunning ocean views will have you stopping frequently for photos. Near the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge, you'll find the trail's exit leading to a parking lot. The parking lot features a popular photo spot where you can capture panoramic views of the bridge and the ocean—absolutely breathtaking. ✅ Jogasaki Coast Station: After finishing the hike, you have two options for returning. If your luggage is stored at Izu-Kōgen Station, take the bus back the same way. If your luggage is at Itō Station, you can walk 1.8 kilometers (about 30 minutes) through a villa area to reach 【Jogasaki Coast Station】. 💥 With this, your East Izu trip is complete! ❤️ Tips: ✅ Pay attention to bus schedules: As long as you catch the last bus from Mount Omuro to Jogasaki Coast, you won’t need to worry about subsequent bus times. After Jogasaki Coast, you can walk to the train station. ✅ Don’t arrive at Jogasaki Coast too late: The area has dense woods, and arriving in the evening might be intimidating due to the rocky coastline and suspension bridge.
