The Shieling Barvas and Brue

The Shieling Barvas and Brue is 21 kilometers 21 minutes drive from Stornoway harbour or bus W2 with 1.3 kilometers walk. It was built by The Barvas and Brue historical society in 2017, to let people know what shieling hut looked like in the past. The upright scratching stone for use by cows to relieve irrigation from flies and ticks. The interior has a bed and cooking utensils for foods and drinks.

Carloway Broch
Carloway Broch is located above Loch an Duin on a rocky knoll in a good defensive position. It is 36 kilometers 36 minutes drive from Stornoway harbour or bus W2 with 6 minutes of walk. The Carloway Broch is one of the best preserved in the Hebrides that date back over 2000 years. It is approximately 9 metres high and 15 metres diameter. It is open 24 hours with no admission fee, visitors centre is only open in summer.
